Tea Cloud was born as the modern-day incarnation of a family tradition that was started in 1976 by our Great Aunt Florence in California.
When our mother, Ellen, was engaged to be married in Chicago, Aunt Florence knew she would not be able to celebrate with her, so she prepared gift boxes of tea and goodies and sent one to all the ladies of the family around the country. Each box was beautifully wrapped with instructions enclosed for all to sip and nibble together at a designated date and time in honor of the bride. We have always loved that story, and we wanted to bring that tradition to life once again. Flash forward to 2016, when Ellen’s daughter, Christina, was now engaged to be married. Ellen and her other daughter, Bonnie, were to throw her the perfect bridal shower while also finding a way to include friends and family from both sides of the aisle that were as far-flung as Massachusetts, Texas, Canada, and the UK. Remembering Aunt Florence, the family trio brought the virtual tea box to life once again, and setting the stage for what would soon become Tea Cloud.
Now, with a dash of elegance, a dollop of friendship and a modern-day serving of social sharing, we invite you to join our #virtualteaparty and make it your own!

“As the hostess to my sister’s afternoon-tea themed bridal shower at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago, I was looking for a way to include those of her friends and loved ones who could not be with us in person. When they received their gift boxes by mail, we noted the designated date and time for them to ‘sip with us in spirit’, and we included a hashtag where we could all share our tea party photos together. All our guests, both present and dispersed, had a wonderful time and appreciated this unique way to show their love and support for the bride!” – Bonnie, Tea Cloud Co-founder
